LIFE BEHIND THE CAMERA
I was raised in County Monaghan, in the northeast of Ireland. At the age of 18, I moved to England, to attend college.
After attaining a psychology degree - and deciding that I didn't want to be a psychologist - I moved to Seoul, South Korea. I took a job as an English teacher and ended up staying for about 18 months. I also visited places like the Philippines and China, before deciding I wanted a completely new adventure.
That's when I moved on to South America. I ventured to Rio de Janeiro first, before crossing the Brazilian border into Argentina. I lived and worked in Buenos Aires for several months, before heading north to spend a summer in Chicago.
Somewhere along the way I realized that I really love meeting new people and hearing their stories. I believe that's what inspired me to become a journalist.
Following my summer in Chicago, I was accepted into a journalism graduate program at the University of Sheffield, UK.
I started my career as a radio reporter, eventually becoming an anchor.
In 2013, I decided to make the leap across the Atlantic and moved to Dallas, Texas. I became a writer, then a producer, at KTVT and after a couple of years there, I moved to the East Coast. I worked for a few years as a reporter with News 12, covering stories all across the tri-state area. In September of 2017 I made another cross-country move to Salt Lake City, Utah. I am currently a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor at WGN in Chicago, Illinois.
When I'm not helping others share their stories, I love to travel and hike. I also ran my first (and last!) marathon in 2021.
